A city opens or closes
On opening, with its jurisdiction and what that implies. On closing, with the reason.
Announcements
When a city opens, when the service is interrupted, when a price or a condition changes, we write it on a SimpleX channel, plus a summary on the 1st of each month. Subscribing requires no phone number, no email address, no account: that is the only reason we chose this tool over another.
This channel is one-way. No one but us writes to it, and we read nothing on it: for a question that concerns you, write to us from your account. To find out whether the service is working right now, the status page remains the only up-to-date source.
Announcements are written there in English. A SimpleX channel has no per-language version: every subscriber receives the same message, and we chose the language understood by the largest number of them rather than send everyone a half-readable message. The site itself stays in your language.
Two minutes
SimpleX Chat is a free, open app, available on iOS, Android, and desktop. It will ask you for no information during installation. Once installed, open the link below: you'll be subscribed, and we won't learn anything about you.

Without installing anything
Our latest messages can be shown directly on this page. We don't load them automatically: the display goes through a SimpleX script and queries the relays that carry the channel, which tells them that a browser requested the preview. So you decide, not us.
Loading the preview will contact simplex.chat and the channel's relays. Nothing is loaded before you click.
The preview is produced by the relays that carry the channel, not by our servers. We have no way of knowing who viewed it, and they have no way of knowing who you are.
The rule
An announcements channel is only worth something if you can rely on it without being flooded by it. Here is exactly what triggers a message from us.
On opening, with its jurisdiction and what that implies. On closing, with the reason.
At the start of the outage, and at its end. Without waiting to be asked.
Before it takes effect, never after.
What we write about you, what we keep, for how long.
The only message sent on a fixed date, the 1st of every month: cities in service, ones that opened or closed, outages from the past month. Three lines, and nothing more when there's nothing to report. You will find no performance figures there: a published response time would be a commitment no one can keep, and the status page gives it live.
What you won't see there. No company news, no promotions, no filler content: aside from the summary on the 1st, nothing is sent on a fixed date, and we would rather have a channel that stays silent for a whole month. And nothing sensitive: as the app itself will warn you, the content of a public channel travels in plain text through the relays that carry it. We don't forget that when writing.
Including the list of our subscribers: we don't have it.
